When it comes to gaming keypads, Razer has two heavy hitters: the Tartarus Pro and the Tartarus V2. Both look similar, but the inside tech makes them feel completely different in play.

- Switch Tech
- Pro: Uses optical analog switches – meaning every key press can register pressure sensitivity (like an analog stick). It’s smoother, more durable, and faster for inputs. It also allows for dual actuation for binding two actions to one button (button-mashers like myself won’t get use of this feature though!)
- V2: Uses mecha-membrane switches – a hybrid between mechanical and membrane. They’re clicky but not as precise or long-lasting as the Pro’s.
- Performance
- Pro shines in competitive games where analog input and precision matter (think FPS strafing or fine movement in MMOs).
- V2 is budget-friendly and solid for casual or mid-core players.
- Comfort & Design
Both share the same ergonomic design, adjustable palm rest, and Razer Chroma RGB. But the Pro feels premium, while the V2 feels like a stepping stone keypad.
TL;DR
- Tartarus Pro = High-end, smoother keys, analog precision, premium price. (Feels closer to linear red switches)
- Tartarus V2 = Affordable, clicky feel, gets the job done. (Feels closer to blue switches)
